Be prepared to help yourself and your family in any emergency situation, whether it's a natural disaster or a terrorist attack.   It is simple and easy, so take precautions and make preparations in your everyday life.  START NOW!

•  GPS Navigation & Radios - In case of a natural disaster or other emergency situation always know where you are, where you're going, and what the weather will be.

•  Disaster Plan - Have emergency preparedness kits in your car - just in case you find yourself in the middle of an accident or stranded in bad weather, having an emergency safety kit while traveling is the best thing you can do for you and your family.  Also, don't forget to have one at work and your children's school.  Have a plan where to meet or who to call next door or out of state. 

•  Security and Protection - Police and other First Responders can be overwhelmed in your neighborhood.   Having a top rate security system will help you more effectively protect your home and loved ones.  Also, consider taking proper security precautions with your vehicle; training for self-defense in not only martial arts but Firearms training; and think smartly - maintian a high awareness of your environment. 

 •  First Aid and Health - The Fire Department, Parametics, and other Medical First Responders can be overwhelmed in your neighborhood.  Consider taking proper precautions with your own home and your children's schools; keep proper first-aid supplies at hand in case of a disaster.

•  Lights and Lanterns - In case of an earthquake, flood, or other natural disaster where you are left without power, keep mobile lights and batteries charged and ready.

•  Water - Water is critical.  You can last a week or ten days without food but not water.  There are a number of ways to store water.  Don't just believe that Sparkletts is going to show up on time.  Large water barrels, strategically placed in your residence, is the best option.   You can get barrels that are 30 to 55 gallon drums.   You can get extra Sparkletts bottles, date them and put them in a cool spot but cycle through them.  Check out water preservatives.

•  Food and Nutrition - Keep foods high in water content, low in sodium (so as not to induce thirst) and good for long-term storage.  Canned goods are particularly easy to acquire.  Put these items on a shelf in a storage area for Emergeny Use Only.  Cycle them through your regular eating menu if possible.   You should also have items easy to fix in an emergency.  Ramen noodle packs require little water.
